Welcome, foodies!

by Jenny

Whether you’re a foodie-in-training or a full-fledged foodie, I welcome you to “Coaching Cooking” where discussions always center around food, cuisine, and delicious morsels. Topics will range from how-to to food history to reminiscents about food and its impact on our lives.

Being a foodie may sound a bit mysterious, but it actually is a title that many people hold unknowingly. If you find yourself planning your next meal with sights and smells dancing in your head or if you treasure cherished memories of certain exquisite meals from the past (or maybe even from yesterday’s lunch!) then you can consider yourself a foodie.

Some foodies think that a person must worship only the choicest, most expensive ingredients. I believe if you seek out the best foods (no matter what the category is…so fast food is included) and you truly appreciate all aspects of that particular dish, then you are a foodie! To me, being a foodie means exploring all that your local stores, restaurants, outdoor markets and mom-and-pop shops have to offer. It means embracing a willingness to explore new tastes, new cuisines and new sensations. You might discover the best sandwich is only a few blocks away from where you live. You might realize that those pesky mixed-greens everyone serves in restaurants actually taste fantastic with some crumbled bleu cheese, shaved red onion and a little dijon vinaigrette (okay, I promise to post that recipe later).

So, please join me as I continue my passionate love of food, cooking and culinary exploration. I promise you won’t go hungry…

Collaborating sounds like a great idea! If you suggest recipes or specific meals, I can give recs for good wine pairings. Cooking and eating are also great passions of mine.
    Cheers,
