A reason to love Thai food
Thai food, or thigh food as my sister would call it, has such bright, delicious flavors. And Ruth Reichl says it best in her book, “Comfort Me With Apples,” when she describes a Thai soup:
The hot-pink soup was dotted with lacy green leaves of cilantro, like little bursts of breeze behind the heat. Small puffs of fried tofu, as insubstantial as clouds, floated in the liquid. I took another spoonful of soup and tasted citrus, as if lemons had once gone gliding through and left their ghosts behind…
I shiver at that description and it makes me long for Thai soup with that casual bite of lemongrass and those “little bursts of breeze.” Sometimes there is nothing more wonderful than a food that you crave because it feeds your soul as well as it feeds your stomach.
